Processor Dust
« on: July 26, 2010, 09:02:31 AM »

If you can't justify spending ten bucks on
 canned air to blow the dust from your computer's
 processor, controller and power supply heatsinks & fans regularly,
 OR you are just too cheap [me],
try a 12 inch supply tube and put some of your own hot air to work.  :P

For day and night your hand was heavy upon me;
 my strength was sapped as in the heat of summer.

Here's another hint (or if you're short of hot air, unlike Rx  ;)

Take the case cover off (carefully) & using a vacuum hose with an attachment (crevices tool works best) vacuum out everything you can see.   Get as close to the motherboard (the big green circuit board) as you can, w/o touching it.  Contacting the case, or the power supply, is ok.   If you know how, take off the CPU fan, & any other fans & clean under them as well.
I try to vacuum mine out at least once every few months.

Happy cleaning!  lol!

PS if you have allergies, make sure you use a good vacuum with a HEPA filter---it'll keep the dust from spreading around.
