Matthew 18:15-17

Posted by Nancy on July 01, 2007 at 20:35:33:

My friend might be in this situation in our church. I've gone to her in private twice now but she won't listen.

Before I went the second time, I talked with my pastor and he supported what I was doing. I had Scriptural support for my concerns and he agreed with those Scriptures. I had also e-mailed these Scriptures to two friends who I respect deeply, one of whom is with Wycliffe and who I especially trust to correct me if I'm misusing Scripture. They agreed with the Scriptures I had sent them for my friend's situation. But my friend still chooses to stay in her situation.

Now I need to talk with my pastor this week, hopefully Wednesday, about my friend's response. I want to know what my pastor thinks should happen next. My friend has told me she feels I have good intentions, but that I'm involving myself with things beyond my understanding and not mine to pursue. So I feel I've done all I can on my own, and now I need to know what to do next.

Please pray for wisdom for my pastor and wisdom for our elders.

I don't know if it's a Matthew 18 situation, but if it is I need to be prepared to take the next step - taking one or two more with me. I can't imagine actually doing this, but if my pastor sees it this way, I will have to take that step.

Thanks.
Nancy
